Stock market update: Sugar shares tumble; Triveni Engineering sinks 20%

NEW DELHI: Most sugar shares were in the red in Thursday's trade.

Shares of Triveni Engineering & Industries (down 19.90 per cent), Uttam Sugar Mills (down 15.27 per cent), Balrampur Chini Mills (down 13.84 per cent), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries (down 13.55 per cent) and Dhampur Sugar Mills (down 13.07 per cent) were among the top losers.

Bannari Amman Sugars (down 12.98 per cent), EID Parry (down 11.62 per cent), Mawana Sugars (down 11.15 per cent), Magadh Sugar (down 10.36 per cent) and KCP Sugar (down 10.04 per cent) too were trading with losses.


The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 702.65 points down at 9,755.75, while the 30share BSE Sensex was down 2,355.55 points at 33,341.85 at around 12:37 pm.

Axis Bank (down 10.73 per cent), State Bank of India (down 9.09 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (down 8.99 per cent), ITC (down 8.31 per cent) and Larsen & Toubro (down 8.04 per cent) were trading in the red.
