Stock market update: Sugar shares advance; Ponni Sugars zooms 7%

NEW DELHI: Most of the sugar stocks were in the green in Thursday's morning trade.

Shares of Ponni Sugars (Erode) (up 7.29 per cent), Sakthi Sugars (up 6.26 per cent), Indian Sucrose (up 4.93 per cent), EID Parry (up 2.49 per cent) and Dwarikesh Sugar Industries (up 2.29 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Magadh Sugar (up 2.14 per cent), Balrampur Chini Mills (up 2.01 per cent) and Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries (up 1.76 per cent) too were trading with gains.


While KM Sugar Mills (down 3.74 per cent), Rana Sugars (down 3.46 per cent) and Piccadily Agro Industries (down 3.46 per cent) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 129.20 points up at 12,154.55, while the 30share BSE Sensex was up 425.66 points at 41,243.4 at around 09:44 am.

IndusInd Bank (up 2.34 per cent), State Bank of India (up 2.06 per cent), Tata Steel (up 1.85 per cent), ICICI Bank (up 1.78 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra (up 1.7 per cent) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Consultancy (down 0.8 per cent) was trading in the red.
