Stock market update: Realty index top sectoral gainer; Unitech surges almost 10%

NEW DELHI: Nifty Realty index was trading as the top gainer among the sectoral indices on NSE during early afternoon trade on Thursday.

Around 12:15 pm, the Nifty Realty index was trading 2.37 per cent up at 290 with 9 components gaining and only 1 losing in trade.

Shares of Unitech (up 9.64 per cent), Prestige Estates Projects (up 5.90 per cent) and Godrej Properties (up 5.38 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.


Housing Development & Infrastructure (HDIL) (up 3.62 per cent), Brigade Enterprises (up 2.29 per cent), Sobha (up 2.18 per cent), DLF (up 1.65 per cent), Oberoi Realty (up 1.60 per cent) and Indiabulls Real Estate (up 0.42 per cent) were also among the gainers in the index.

Meanwhile, Phoenix Mills (down 0.99 per cent) was the only stock that was under pressure in the index around that time.

Positive global cues and sustained buying in all sectors were keeping bourses aloft.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 105 points at 10,790, while the BSE Sensex was up 346 points at 35,525.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 41 were trading in the green, while 8 were in the red.

Shares of Vedanta and Tata Steel were leading the pack of Nifty gainers, surging over 3 per cent.
