Stock market update: Power stocks rise; Siemens leaps 6%

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading on a positive note at 12:42PM (IST) on Friday.

Shares of Siemens (up 6.23 per cent), KEC International (up 3.51 per cent), NHPC (up 3.41 per cent), ABB India Ltd (up 2.85 per cent) and Thermax (up 1.57 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Bharat Heavy Electricals (down 1.54 per cent), Power Grid Corporation of India (down 0.81 per cent) and CESC (down 0.03 per cent) were the top losers in the index.


The S&P BSE Power index was trading 0.87 per cent up at 1597.3 around 12:42PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 44.70 points at 11345.15, while the BSE Sensex was up 144.0 points at 38454.49.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 were trading in the green, while 17 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Alok Industries, Ashok Leyland and NBCC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Lupin, APL Apollo Tube, Birlasoft, KIOCL Ltd. and JSPL hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Mauria Udyog Ltd., Panth Infinity Ltd., Viaan Industries Ltd., Navkar Builders Ltd., Vas Infrastructure Ltd., Shree Karthik Papers Ltd., SC Agrotech Ltd., Anubhav Infrastructure Ltd., Unishire Urban Infra Ltd. and Centerac Technologies Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
