Stock market update: Nifty PSU Bank index tanks over 3%; Bank of Maharashtra dives 8%

NEW DELHI: Nifty PSU Bank stocks were trading on a negative note at 02:18PM (IST) on Thursday.

Shares of Bank of Maharashtra (down 7.79 per cent), Indian Overseas Bank (down 6.89 per cent), J & K Bank (down 5.99 per cent), UCO Bank (down 5.84 per cent) and Bank of India (down 5.25 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While Indian Bank (up 0.9 per cent) was the sole gainer in the index.


The Nifty PSU Bank index was trading 3.35 per cent down at 2125.35 around 02:18PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 233.60 points at 14487.7, while the BSE Sensex was down 826.47 points at 48975.15.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 were trading in the green, while 42 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, BHEL, PNB, Tata Power and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Orchid Pharma, Dixon Tech, Adani Power and Sundram Fasteners hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade.
