Stock market update: Nifty PSU Bank index falls 1%; Canara Bank sheds 2%

NEW DELHI: Nifty PSU Bank index was trading with losses at 01:23PM (IST) on Wednesday.

Shares of Central Bank of India (down 3.35 per cent), Canara Bank (down 1.86 per cent), Punjab National Bank (down 1.76 per cent), Bank of Maharashtra (down 1.32 per cent) and Bank of Baroda (down 1.19 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While Punjab & Sind Bank (up 0.46 per cent) was the sole gainer.


The Nifty PSU Bank index was trading 1.18 per cent down at 1283.8 around 01:23PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 75.45 points at 11737.85, while the BSE Sensex was up 315.4 points at 39889.97.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 were trading in the green, while 30 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Vedanta , Tata Motors, ONGC and SBI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd., Metropolis Healthcare Ltd., Dr. Lal Pathlabs Ltd., Ambuja Cements and Ruchi Soya Inds hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Vikas Proppant & Granite Ltd., Vasa Retail & Overseas Ltd., S & S Power Switchgear Ltd., AB Infrabuild Ltd., Twentyfirst Century Management Services Ltd. and California Software Company Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
