Stock market update: Nifty IT index sheds nearly 4%; TCS tanks 6%

NEW DELHI: Nifty IT index was trading lower at 02:22PM (IST) on Thursday.

While Tata Consultancy (down 5.7 per cent), MPhasis (down 4.49 per cent), Tech Mahindra (down 4.15 per cent), Infosys (down 3.76 per cent) and Mindtree (down 3.3 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty IT index was trading 3.62 per cent down at 19087.9 around 02:22PM.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 227.85 points at 10904.0, while the BSE Sensex was down 792.93 points at 36875.49.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 5 were trading in the green, while 45 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors and Zee Ent. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Route Mobile Ltd., Apollo Hospital, Syngene International Ltd., Hathway Cable and Ruchi Soya Inds hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Raj Rayon Industries Ltd., Mittal Life Style Ltd., Future Lifestyle Fashions Ltd., Vikas Proppant & Granite Ltd., Sumit Woods Ltd., Libas Designs Ltd., Kuantum Papers Ltd., Adroit Infotech Ltd., Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd. and Mindpool Technologies Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
