Stock market update: Nifty Auto index down nearly 1%; Tata Motors sheds 3%

NEW DELHI: Nifty Auto index was trading with losses at 01:10PM (IST) on Thursday.

Shares of Tata Motors (down 2.74 per cent), Bharat Forge (down 1.76 per cent), Exide Industries (down 1.26 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (down 1.26 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp (down 1.16 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While MRF (up 1.31 per cent), Motherson Sumi Systems (up 0.89 per cent) and Ashok Leyland (up 0.06 per cent) were among the top gainers.


The Nifty Auto index was trading 0.94 per cent down at 7848.35 around 01:10PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 54.80 points at 11674.8, while the BSE Sensex was down 158.7 points at 39763.76.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Tata Motors, YES Bank, Axis Bank and NTPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Navin Fluorine, Route Mobile Ltd., Tanla Solutions, Adani Green Energy Ltd. and Just Dial hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Mittal Life Style Ltd., Shubhlaxmi Jewel Art Ltd., Future Supply Chain Solutions Ltd., Vikas Proppant & Granite Ltd., GE Power India Ltd., Sumit Woods Ltd., Punjab National Bank, SKIL Infrastructure Ltd., AB Infrabuild Ltd. and Maheshwari Logistics Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
