Stock market update: Nifty Auto index down 2%; Tata Motors sheds 4%

NEW DELHI: Nifty Auto index was trading with losses at 02:45PM (IST) on Tuesday.

Shares of Tata Motors (down 4.07 per cent), Bosch (down 3.83 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 3.07 per cent), Maruti Suzuki (down 2.75 per cent) and Eicher Motors (down 2.47 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While Bharat Forge (up 0.23 per cent) was the sole gainer.


The Nifty Auto index was trading 1.93 per cent down at 7681.1 around 02:45PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 115.35 points at 11135.2, while the BSE Sensex was down 353.92 points at 37680.22.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 were trading in the green, while 38 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors and Zee Ent. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of TCS, Hexaware, Hathway Cable and Ruchi Soya Inds hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Banka Bioloo Ltd., CKP Leisure Ltd., Libas Designs Ltd., Kuantum Papers Ltd., Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd., Coal India Ltd., Tirupati Forge Ltd., Eicher Motors Ltd., Mask Investments Ltd. and Spacenet Enterprises India Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
