Stock market update: Metal stocks shed; Jindal Steel & Power loses 3%

NEW DELHI: Metal stocks were trading lower at 02:07PM (IST) on Monday.

Shares of Jindal Steel & Power (down 2.78 per cent), Mishra Dhatu Nigam (down 1.41 per cent), Hindustan Copper (down 1.1 per cent), Steel Authority of India (down 0.86 per cent) and Hindustan Zinc (down 0.74 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While JSW Steel (up 1.04 per cent), APL Apollo Tubes (up 0.95 per cent), Welspun Corp (up 0.66 per cent), Ratnamani Metals & Tubes (up 0.3 per cent) and NMDC Ltd (up 0.21 per cent) were among the top gainers.


The Nifty Metal index was trading 0.2 per cent down at 2446.5 around 02:07PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 2.35 points at 11331.5, while the BSE Sensex was down 9.4 points at 38347.78.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 were trading in the green, while 25 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, Tata Motors (DVR) and Bharti Infratel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of IndiaMART InterMESH Ltd., Granules India, Wabco India, AstraZeneca and Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd. hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Blue Chip India Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
