Stock market update: IT stocks edge lower; NIIT Tech slides 2%

NEW DELHI: Shares of IT firms were trading with losses in Friday's morning session.

Shares of NIIT Technologies (down 1.97 per cent), Mindtree (down 0.95 per cent), Infosys (down 0.93 per cent), Tata Consultancy (down 0.85 per cent), Wipro (down 0.46 per cent) and Tata Elxsi (down 0.17 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While HCL Technologies (up 1.17 per cent), Tech Mahindra (up 0.14 per cent), Hexaware Technologies (up 0.09 per cent) and Just Dial (up 0.05 per cent) were among the top gainers.


The Nifty IT index was trading 0.47 per cent down at 16,396.15 around 10:43 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 57.65 points at 12,238.0, while the BSE Sensex was up 177.22 points at 41,563.62.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 were trading in the green, while 10 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Indian Oil, Indiabulls Housing, SBI, PFC, Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and Adani Gas were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
