Stock market update: IT shares slump; NIIT Tech tumbles 4%

NEW DELHI: Shares of IT firms were in the red in Wednesday's trade.

Shares of NIIT Technologies (down 3.96 per cent), Just Dial (down 1.83 per cent), Tata Elxsi (down 1.66 per cent), Hexaware Technologies (down 1.61 per cent) and Mindtree (down 1.36 per cent) were among the top losers.

Wipro (down 0.42 per cent), Tech Mahindra (down 0.35 per cent), HCL Technologies (down 0.14 per cent) and Tata Consultancy (down 0.09 per cent) too were trading with losses.


While Infosys (up 0.1 per cent) was the only gainer.

The Nifty IT index was trading 0.52 per cent down at 15,640.75 around 11:27 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 48.15 points at 11,255.15, while the BSE Sensex was 201.79 points at 38,421.91.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Tata Motors, SBI, GMR Infra, SAIL, Indiabulls Housing, Vedanta, Sun Pharma and JSPL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
