Stock market update: IT shares slip; NIIT Tech down over 1%

NEW DELHI: IT shares were trading in the negative zone in Friday's morning session.

Shares of NIIT Technologies (down 1.22 per cent), Tech Mahindra (down 1.00 per cent), HCL Technologies (down 0.87 per cent) and Tata Consultancy Services (down 0.74 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

Tata Elxsi (down 0.43 per cent), Wipro (down 0.43 per cent) and Oracle Financial Services Software (down 0.09 per cent) too were trading lower.


The Nifty IT index was trading 0.36 per cent down at 15,483.45 around 10:06 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 26.45 points at 11,683.50 while the BSE Sensex was up 96.06 points at 38,907.45.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 were trading in the green, while 21 were in the red.

Shares of GRUH Finance, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Bank of Baroda, BEL, Adani Power, Ashok Leyland, Adani Enterprises, Reliance Capital and Dish TV India were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
