Stock market update: IT shares slip; NIIT Tech down 1%

NEW DELHI: IT shares were trading lower in Thursday's morning session.

Shares of NIIT Technologies (down 1.30 per cent), Tata Elxsi (down 1.29 per cent), Oracle Financial Services Software (down 1.18 per cent) and HCL Technologies (down 0.66 per cent) were trading with losses.

Tech Mahindra (down 0.63 per cent), Infibeam Avenues (down 0.50 per cent), Infosys (down 0.42 per cent) and Mindtree (down 0.37 per cent) too were trading lower.


The Nifty IT index was trading 0.52 per cent down at 15,797.5 around 10:01 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 40.70 points at 11,005.40 while the BSE Sensex was down 133.66 points at 37,318.18.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 were trading in the green, while 32 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, RBL Bank, NBCC, Sun Pharma, SAIL, Bank of Baroda and Ashok Leyland were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
