Stock market update: IT shares mixed; NIIT Tech rises 2%

NEW DELHI: IT shares were trading on a mixed note in Wednesday's morning session.

Shares of NIIT Technologies (up 1.89 per cent) , Tata Consultancy Services(up 0.94 per cent) , Mindtree (up 0.77 per cent) and Tech Mahindra (up 0.42 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Tata Elxsi (down 0.61 per cent) , Infosys (down 0.51 per cent) , Wipro (down 0.31 per cent) , Hexaware Technologies (down 0.18 per cent) , Just Dial (down 0.14 per cent) and HCL Technologies (down 0.13 per cent) were the top losers in the index.


The Nifty IT index was trading 0.16 per cent up at 15921.1 around 10:13 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 58.15 points at 11994.8 , while the BSE Sensex was down 162.03 points at 40,707.44.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 9 were trading in the green, while 41 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, SBI, GMR Infra, Bank of Baroda, SAIL, PNB, Tata Motors and Canara Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
