Stock market update: IT shares down; Wipro slips 2%

NEW DELHI: IT stocks were trading in the red zone at 11:45AM (IST) on Thursday.

Shares of Wipro (down 1.7 per cent), Info Edge (India) (down 0.81 per cent), Infosys (down 0.38 per cent), Mindtree (down 0.37 per cent) and Tata Consultancy (down 0.29 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While Larsen & Toubro Infotech (up 0.35 per cent) and HCL Technologies (up 0.02 per cent) were among the top gainers.


The Nifty IT index was trading 0.42 per cent down at 18135.0 around 11:45AM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 70.30 points at 11338.1, while the BSE Sensex was down 283.95 points at 38330.84.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 were trading in the green, while 32 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Zee Ent., Tata Power, Ashok Leyland and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of ABB Power Products, Essel Propack, Aditya Birla Fashion (PP), JSPL and Atul Ltd hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while CKP Leisure Ltd., SMVD Poly Pack Ltd. and CKP Products Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
