Stock market update: IT shares down; Tata Elxsi slips 5%

NEW DELHI: IT shares were trading lower in Tuesday's morning session.

Shares of Tata Elxsi (down 4.76 per cent), Hexaware Technologies (down 0.93 per cent), HCL Technologies (down 0.9 per cent), Wipro (down 0.64 per cent), Tata Consultancy (down 0.28 per cent), Infosys (down 0.16 per cent) and Just Dial (down 0.1 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty IT index was trading 0.41 per cent down at 16579.15 around 09:58 am.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 73.25 points at 11972.55 , while the BSE Sensex was down 224.18 points at 40,831.51.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 6 were trading in the green, while 44 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, TV18 Broadcast, SBI, Tata Motors, BHEL, SAIL, LIC Housing Fin and Muthoot Finance were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
