Stock market update: IT shares climb; NIIT Technologies leaps 5%

NEW DELHI: Shares of IT firms were trading with gains in Tuesday's session.

Shares of NIIT Technologies (up 4.93 per cent), HCL Technologies (up 1.07 per cent), Tata Consultancy (up 0.88 per cent), Wipro (up 0.82 per cent) and Tech Mahindra (up 0.69 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Tata Elxsi (up 0.35 per cent) and Infosys (up 0.17 per cent) too were in the green.


While Mindtree (down 3.92 per cent) and Hexaware Technologies (down 0.15 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty IT index was trading 0.71 per cent up at 15,537.8 around 10:57 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 70.30 points at 11,203.05, while the BSE Sensex was up 177.4 points at 38,321.42.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 were trading in the green, while 10 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, SBI, Indiabulls Housing, Vedanta , PFC, Hindalco, SAIL and Ashok Leyland were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
