Stock market update: IT shares advance; HCL Tech rises 2%
The Nifty IT index was trading 0.53 per cent up at 15948.15 .

NEW DELHI: IT shares were trading in the positive zone in Thursday's morning session.
Shares of HCL Technologies (up 2.37 per cent), Tata Elxsi (up 1.22 per cent), Tata Consultancy (up 0.88 per cent), Wipro (up 0.81 per cent), Infosys (up 0.45 per cent) and Tech Mahindra (up 0.43 per cent) were among the top gainers.
The Nifty IT index was trading 0.53 per cent up at 15948.15 around 09:57 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 0.80 points at 11251.8, while the BSE Sensex was up 20.82 points at 38430.3.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 were trading in the green, while 22 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, SBI, Ashok Leyland, Vedanta, GAIL, GMR Infra and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
