Stock market update: IT index lone sectoral loser; Wipro, HCL Tech slip up to 1%

NEW DELHI: While the equity market was reflecting positive sentiment and most sectoral indices were trading with gains, Nifty IT was the odd man out in morning trade on Tuesday, trading as the solitary loser on NSE.

The Nifty IT index was trading 0.18 per cent down at 14,657 around 10:30 am.

Shares of Wipro (down 1.07 per cent), HCL Technologies (down 0.59 per cent), Tech Mahindra (down 0.55 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services (down 0.31 per cent) and KPIT Technologies (down 0.14 per cent) were the losers in the IT index.


However, shares of Mindtree (up 1.07 per cent), Infosys (up 0.50 per cent), Tata Elxsi (up 0.42 per cent) and Oracle Financial Services Software (up 0.31 per cent) were in the green.

Buying in metal, auto and bank stocks were keeping the equity benchmarks up.

The NSE Nifty50 index was up 51 points at 11,136, while the BSE Sensex was up 162 points at 36,880.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 were trading in the green, while 15 were in the red.

Grasim Industries, Ultratech Cement and Hindalco Industries were among the top gainers in the Nifty index.

However, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and Wipro were among the top losers in the Nifty pack of stocks.
