Stock market update: Cement stocks tumble; Shiva Cement slides 5%

NEW DELHI: Most of the cement stocks were trading in the red in Tuesday's morning session.

Shares of Shiva Cement (down 4.94 per cent), Barak Valley Cements (down 4.91 per cent), Keerthi Industries (down 4.38 per cent), Saurashtra Cement (down 3.57 per cent) and Gujarat Sidhee Cement (down 3.30 per cent) were among the top losers.

India Cements (down 2.66 per cent), Sanghi Industries (down 2.50 per cent) and Kakatiya Cements Sugar & Industries (down 1.88 per cent)too were trading with losses.


While HeidelbergCement India (up 0.86 per cent), Prism Johnson (up 0.24 per cent) and UltraTech Cement (up 0.01 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 81.80 points down at 11,964, while the 30share BSE Sensex was down 257.36 points at 40,798.33 at around 09:44 am.

Bharti Airtel (up 0.48 per cent) and UltraTech Cement (up 0.01 per cent) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, IndusInd Bank (down 4.16 per cent), Tata Steel (down 2.03 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (down 1.81 per cent), Maruti Suzuki (down 1.49 per cent) and ITC (down 1.39 per cent) were trading in the red.
