Stock market update: Cement stocks decline; APCL slides 6%

NEW DELHI: Most of the cement stocks were trading with losses in Thrusday's morning session.

Shares of APCL (down 5.72 per cent), Century Textiles & Industries (down 3.46 per cent), Udaipur Cement Works (down 3.12 per cent), Gujarat Sidhee Cement (down 2.33 per cent) and Shri Keshav Cements(down 2.28 per cent) fell up to 6 per cent.

Ambuja Cements (down 1.74 per cent), NCL Industries (down 1.68 per cent), ACC (down 1.53 per cent) and JK Cements (down 1.34 per cent) too were trading in the red.


While Shiva Cement (up 5.71 per cent), Saurashtra Cement (up 4.41 per cent) and Dalmia Bharat (up 1.13 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 42.70 points down at 11,270.6, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 142.28 points at 38,035.67.

Bharti Airtel (up 4.63 per cent), Grasim Industries (up 3.84 per cent), Reliance Industries (up 2.54 per cent), Infosys (up 0.83 per cent) and Asian Paints (up 0.80 per cent) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Indiabulls Housing Finance (down 11.74 per cent), YES Bank (down 3.12 per cent), Tata Motors (down 2.40 per cent), ICICI Bank (down 2.28 per cent) and GAIL (India) (down 2.20 per cent) were trading in the red.
