Stock market update: BSE SmallCap index falls 1%; Vascon Engineers nosedives 10%

NEW DELHI: S&P BSE SmallCap index was trading on a negative note at 02:45PM (IST) on Wednesday.

Shares of Vascon Engineers (down 9.98 per cent), J&K Bank (down 9.98 per cent), Inox wind (down 8.54 per cent), Graphite India (down 7.13 per cent) and Goa Carbon (down 6.14 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While OnMobile Global (up 9.94 per cent), Navkar Corp (up 9.19 per cent), Indian Overseas Bank (up 8.59 per cent), SaintGobain Sekurit India (up 8.31 per cent) and Puravankara (up 7.74 per cent) were among the top gainers.


The S&P BSE SmallCap index was trading 1.04 per cent down at 16377.3 around 02:45PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 171.05 points at 12884.1, while the BSE Sensex was down 620.33 points at 43902.69.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 were trading in the green, while 38 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, PNB, Bank of Baroda and Federal Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Emami, Tata Power, Tanla Solutions, Gland Pharma and Chambal Fert hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Innovative Ideals and Services (India) Ltd., Pazel International Ltd., Jump Networks Ltd., Sudal Industries Ltd., Pagaria Energy Ltd., Lakshmi Vilas Bank Ltd., Rainbow Denim Ltd., Chandrima Mercantiles Ltd., Goldline International Finvest Ltd. and Shree Rajeshwaranand Paper Mills Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
