Stock market update: Auto stocks shed; Eicher Motors down over 2%

NEW DELHI: Auto stocks were trading lower at 01:52PM (IST) on Tuesday.

Shares of Eicher Motors (down 2.38 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (down 2.18 per cent), Balkrishna Industries (down 2.08 per cent), Exide Industries (down 1.72 per cent) and Ashok Leyland (down 1.46 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While Maruti Suzuki (up 1.06 per cent), Motherson Sumi Systems (up 0.55 per cent) and Bajaj Auto (up 0.38 per cent) were among the top gainers.


The Nifty Auto index was trading 0.51 per cent down at 10900.4 around 01:52PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 45.95 points at 15268.75, while the BSE Sensex was down 208.19 points at 51945.94.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, PNB, Central Bank Ind, IOB and SBI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Bank of Maharashtra, Adani Gas, Bank of India, Adani Trans and PowerGrid hit their fresh 52week high in today's trade, while Vera Synthetic Ltd., Sanwaria Consumer Ltd., We Win Ltd. and Jiya Eco Products Ltd. hit fresh 52week low in trade.
