Mumbai: Indian stock indices ended marginally higher on Thursday, giving up most of the early gains as investors assessed the impact of US Federal Reserve's signal to end its ultra-accommodative policy by March and then raise interest rates thrice in 2022 to contain inflation.

The Sensex ended up 113.11 points, or 0.2%, at 57,901.14 and the Nifty ended up 27 points, or 0.2%, at 17,248.40. Indian equities underperformed Asian peers. Nikkei 225 index gained 2.1%, Shanghai Composite rose 0.75%, Hang Seng gained 0.2%, Kospi index rose 0.6% and Taiex index gained 0.7%.
