MUMBAI: Shares of Sterlite Industries surged higher in trade after the Green Tribunal allowed the company to continue operations at Tuticorin plant.

According to the tribunal, the company's plant is not proven to be pollutant. The company will have to adhere to to expert committee recommendations while operating from the plant.

At 03:15 p.m.; the stock was at Rs 91.45, up 3.57 per cent, on the BSE. It touched a high of Rs 91.80 and a low of Rs 88 in trade today.
