NEW DELHI: Power prices in spot markets fell 12% in November to Rs 2.67 per unit, India Energy Exchange (IEX) said.

The decline was steeper in southern India, where prices fell 21% as new transmission and generation capacity came up, the exchange said.

In November, sell bids on the exchange increased about 4% compared to the previous month while purchase bids decreased about 20% over that in October.

"The decrease in volume can be attributed to subdued demand by state utilities due to winter season. In the same month last year, 2.1 billion were traded, about 22% lower than this month’s trade," an IEX statement said.
