SpiceJet climbs 3% amid talks to buy new planes

Following the development, the stock rose 3.56 per cent to Rs 658.50 on BSE.

SpiceJet has been, for a while, toying with the idea of purchasing wide bodied aircraft to start long haul operations, ET reported.
NEW DELHI: Shares of SpiceJet jumped over 3 per cent in Wednesday’s trade after an ET report suggested that the airline is in talks with Airbus to buy its A330neo wide-bodied planes.

The report indicated that the airline is firming up plans to fly long haul international routes such as Europe.

Following the development, the stock rose 3.56 per cent to Rs 658.50 on BSE.


SpiceJet has been, for a while, toying with the idea of purchasing wide bodied aircraft to start long haul operations, ET reported.

The airline has 36 Boeing 737 planes and 22 Bombardier Q400 jets in its current fleet. It has a pending order of 155 Boeing 737 Maxes and 24 Q400s (down from 25 as the first of the order was delivered last week). The first of the ordered 737 Maxes will be delivered later this week.
