Spanco Telesystems and Solutions has received a contract valued at Rs 125 crore from Maharashtra government.

MUMBAI: Spanco Telesystems and Solutions has received a contract valued at Rs 125 crore from Maharashtra government.

The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department has appointed Spanco as the sole provider for computerisation of the entire rationing system in the state and issue ration cards on build, own, operate and transfer basis. The project is for 3 years.

"This contract gives impetus to Spanco's growth plans and strengthens future business opportunities and potential and also puts the company in a leading position in all important government space, particularly considering the government spending and expansions programs and budget allocations in the area of telecom and IT / ITES segment," the company said in a notice.

Spanco has also received letter of intent from Bihar State Electronics Development Corporation. The project includes supply, installation and maintenance of network and other passive equipments of modernisation of prison security across 53 jails in Bihar on BOOT basis for 5 years.

The project is valued at Rs 20.08 crore. On Friday, Spanco shares closed up 8.26 per cent at Rs 169.
