Share market update: These stocks defy positive market mood, plunge 5%

The NSE Nifty index was trading 76 points up at 11,321, while the BSE Sensex was up 252 points at 37,418 around 09:45 am.

NEW DELHI: Shares of Geojit Financial Services (down 6.08 per cent), Jet Airways (down 4.97 per cent) and Alok Industries (down 4.55 per cent) plunged 5 per cent on NSE in morning trade on NSE even as the market was in the higher territory.

Defying subdued Asian cues, the domestic equity market kicked off Friday's trade on a positive note.

All sectors were trading with gains, led by bank, financial and pharma.


The NSE Nifty index was trading 76 points up at 11,321, while the BSE Sensex was up 252 points at 37,418 around 09:45 am.

In the Nifty index, 47 stocks were in the green and only three- Tech Mahindra, HPCL and Grasim Industries- were incurring losses.

Indiabulls Housing Finance, GAIL (India), HDFC, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories and YES Bank were leading among Nifty scrips.

AIA Engineering, Endurance Technologies, IndusInd Bank, Page Industries, Torrent Pharmaceuticals and Whirlpool of India hit 52-week highs.

However, Prataap Snacks, JBF Industries, S H Kelkar and Company and Jyoti Structures hit 52-week lows on NSE.
