Share market update: Telecom shares up; MTNL gains over 7%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading with gains in Wednesday's session.

Shares of GTPL Hathway (up 14.59 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 7.33 per cent), ITI (up 5.38 per cent), Tejas Network (up 4.98 per cent), Aksh Optifibre (up 4.89 per cent), Vodafone Idea (up 4.39 per cent), HFCL Ltd (up 3.52 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (up 0.88 per cent), Vindhya Telelinks (up 0.83 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (up 0.64 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.55 per cent up at 1133.41 around 02:38 pm.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 46.85 points at 8947.0 , while the BSE Sensex was down 244.14 points at 30445.88 .

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 were trading in the green, while 22 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Metropolis Healthcare Ltd., Tata Motors, SBI, YES Bank, Phoenix Mills, ICICI Bank, Hindalco Inds. and Ashok Leyland were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
