Share market update: Telecom shares up; GTPL Hathway jumps 5%

NEW DELHI: Most telecom shares were trading higher in Monday's afternoon session.

Shares of GTPL Hathway (up 4.94 per cent), Vindhya Telelinks (up 4.64 per cent), Tata Communications (up 2.54 per cent) and GTL (up 1.68 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.

OnMobile Global (up 1.33 per cent), Aksh Optifibre (up 1.32 per cent), Bharti Airtel (up 1.26 per cent) and Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (up 1.16 per cent) too were trading with gains.


Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.18 per cent down at 997.29 around 02:46 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 68.20 points at 10,859.85 while the BSE Sensex was up 279.05 points at 36,150.53.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 were trading in the green, while 18 were in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Reliance Communications, Reliance Power, YES Bank, JP Associates, Motherson Sumi, Adani Power, Reliance Infra, JSPL, Dish TV India, Ashok Leyland, Adani Ports SEZ, NALCO, Rel Capital and HDIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
