Share market update: Telecom shares slip; Aksh Optifibre tanks 17%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading with losses in Thursday's afternoon session.

Shares of Aksh Optifibre (down 17.29 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (down 12.99 per cent), ITI (down 9.54 per cent) and GTL Infrastructure (down 9.26 per cent) were trading with losses.

GTL (down 8.68 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (down 5.94 per cent), Optiemus Infracom (down 5.00 per cent) and Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (down 4.78 per cent) too were trading lower.


The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.66 per cent down at 921.47 around 11:29 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 93.35 points at 10,825.35 while the BSE Sensex was down 284.46 points at 36,775.91.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 9 were trading in the green, while 41 were in the red.

Shares of LIC Housing Finance, YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, DLF, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, NMDC, Dish TV India and Ashok Leyland were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
