Share market update: Telecom shares rise; Vodafone Idea jumps 7%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading with gains in Wednesday's morning session.
Shares of Vodafone Idea (up 6.93 per cent), Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 5.93 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 3.18 per cent), GTL Infrastructure (up 2.86 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (up 1.69 per cent), Vindhya Telelinks (up 1.07 per cent), Tejas Network (up 1.04 per cent), ITI (up 0.49 per cent), OnMobile Global (up 0.37 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (up 0.13 per cent) were among the top gainers.
The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 1.04 per cent up at 1235.52 around 10:44 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 58.15 points at 12050.65 , while the BSE Sensex was up 196.18 points at 41090.56 .
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 34 were trading in the green, while 16 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Alok Industries, Tata Motors, UPL , SBI, Gujarat Gas Ltd., Aurobindo Pharm and Au Small Finance Bank Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
