Share market update: Telecom shares rise; Tejas Networks jumps 7%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading in the positive zone in Friday's afternoon session.

Shares of Tejas Networks (up 7.21 per cent) , Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 4.84 per cent) , Optiemus Infracom (up 4.20 per cent) and ITI (up 2.77 per cent) were trading with gains.

GTL (up 2.76 per cent) , Sterlite Technologies (up 2.69 per cent) , Vindhya Telelinks (up 2.11 per cent) and OnMobile Global (up 2.07 per cent) too were trading higher.


The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading flat at 996.95 around 11:33 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 46.70 points at 11,633.05 while the BSE Sensex was up 157.88 points at 39,209.94.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, BHEL, Vodafone Idea, Tata Motors, SAIL, GMR Infra, L&T Fin Holding, NBCC and ZEEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
