Share market update: Telecom shares rise; ITI surges over 14%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading with gains in Tuesday's morning session.

Shares of ITI (up 14.24 per cent) , Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 5.0 per cent) , Tejas Network (up 3.41 per cent) , Vindhya Telelinks (up 2.89 per cent) , Optiemus Infracom (up 2.4 per cent) , Reliance Communications (up 2.38 per cent) , GTPL Hathway (up 1.84 per cent) , Aksh Optifibre (up 1.64 per cent) , Vodafone Idea (up 1.5 per cent) , Sterlite Technologies (up 1.35 per cent) , OnMobile Global (up 1.35 per cent) , HFCL Ltd (up 0.87 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (up 0.29 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.23 per cent up at 1098.01 around 11:00 am.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 98.90 points at 12,091.95 , while the BSE Sensex was up 345 points at 41,021.63.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 41 were trading in the green, while 9 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Welspun India, YES Bank, TV18 Broadcast, SAIL, ITI Ltd, GMR Infra, SBI, Bank of Baroda and Tata Motors were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
