Share market update: Telecom shares down; Tejas Network slumps 7%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading with losses in Wednesday's morning session.

Shares of Tejas Network (down 6.98 per cent), Vodafone Idea (down 4.9 per cent), Reliance Communications (down 3.53 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (down 1.79 per cent), Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 1.29 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (down 1.18 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (down 0.31 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.65 per cent down at 1198.6 around 11:02 am.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 21.70 points at 12,148.15 , while the BSE Sensex was down 56.26 points at 41,267.55.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 were trading in the green, while 27 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Rain Industries , YES Bank, Tata Motors, ONGC, HDFC Bank, SAIL, JSPL, Can Fin Homes and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
