Share market update: Telecom shares mixed; RCom surges 10%

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Telecom index was flat in Wednesday's afternoon session with most of its components trading on a mixed note.

Shares of Reliance Communications (up 10 per cent), OnMobile Global (up 9.22 per cent), Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (up 5.10 per cent) and GTL Infrastructure (up 4.40 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (down 3.21 per cent) , Tejas Networks (down 2.29 per cent) , GTPL Hathway (down 1.33 per cent) and ITI (down 0.84 per cent) were trading with losses.


The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.10 per cent down at 1047.17 around 02:23 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 11.60 points at 11,544 while the BSE Sensex was up 117.24 points at 38,480.71.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.

Shares of Reliance Communications, Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power, PNB, JP Associates, BHEL, SAIL, YES Bank, IDBI Bank, Aditya Birla Capital, CG Power, Ashok Leyland, Reliance Capital, Adani Power and South Indian Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
