Share market update: Telecom shares jump; Vodafone Idea surges 22%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading in the green in Wednesday's morning session.

Shares of Vodafone Idea (up 21.59 per cent) , Tejas Networks (up 19.95 per cent) , GTL Infrastructure (up 4.76 per cent) and Optiemus Infracom (up 1.40 per cent) were trading in the positive zone.

Vindhya Telelinks (up 1.28 per cent) , HFCL (up 1.17 per cent) , Bharti Airtel (up 0.94 per cent) and ITI (up 0.80 per cent) too were trading higher.


The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 1.25 per cent up at 1096.19 around 11:35 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 80.15 points at 12020.25 , while the BSE Sensex was up 285.46 points at 40755.16 .

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 were trading in the green, while 18 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Manappuram Fin, Bank of Baroda, Bharti Airtel, Corp Bank, UCO Bank, Ashok Leyland, JSPL and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
