Share market update: Telecom shares gain; GTPL Hathway surges 8%

NEW DELHI: Most telecom shares were trading in the positive zone in Wednesday's afternoon session.

Shares of GTPL Hathway (up 8.50 per cent), Aksh Optifibre (up 3.57 per cent), GTL (up 2.17 per cent) and Vodafone Idea (up 1.27 per cent) were the top performers in the index.

ITI (up 0.77 per cent), Bharti Airtel (up 0.70 per cent), Himachal Futuristic Communications (up 0.48 per cent) and Bharti Infratel (up 0.11 per cent) too were trading in the green.


The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.41 per cent up at 980.40 around 11:52 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 16.95 points at 11,726.05 while the BSE Sensex was up 103.90 points at 39,073.70.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 were trading in the green, while 24 were in the red.

Shares of DHFL, YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, JSPL, Adani Power, Suzlon Energy, PC Jeweller, PNB, IDBI Bank and DLF were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
