Share market update: Telecom shares fall; Sterlite Tech plunges 10%

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 were trading in the green, while 21 were in the red.
NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading with losses in Friday's morning session.

Shares of Sterlite Technologies (down 9.84 per cent) , Bharti Infratel (down 8.42 per cent) , Vodafone Idea (down 6.93 per cent) and GTL Infrastructure (down 4.55 per cent) were the worst performers in the index.

OnMobile Global (down 4.44 per cent) , Tejas Networks (down 2.86 per cent) , Bharti Airtel (down 1.19 per cent) and ITI (down 0.68 per cent) too were trading lower.


The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 3.14 per cent down at 913.32 around 11:10 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 4.50 points at 11,578.10 while the BSE Sensex was down 15.13 points at 39,005.26.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NCC, TV18 Broadcast, IDFC First Bank, Ashok Leyland, SAIL, BHEL and SBI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
