Share market update: Telecom shares fall; GTPL Hathway slips nearly 3%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading lower with the S&P BSE Telecom index down 1.33 per cent at 997.6 on Thursday.

Shares of GTPL Hathway (down 2.87 per cent), GTL Infrastructure (down 2.50 per cent), Aksh Optifibre (down 2.34 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (down 2.25 per cent), were the worst performers in the index.

Tejas Networks (down 1.47 per cent), Bharti Infratel (down 0.87 per cent) and Sterlite Technologies (down 0.83 per cent) too were trading in the red.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 53.50 points at 10,913.8 while the BSE Sensex was down 172.17 points at 36,312.16.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 were trading in the green, while 30 were in the red.

Shares of South Indian Bank, Reliance Communications, YES Bank, City Union Bank, Vakrangee, JP Associates, Dewan Housing, IFCI, NCC, Infibeam Avenues, NALCO, PNB, Bank of India, Suzlon Energy, SBI and Hindustan Unilever were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
