Share market update: Smallcaps in sync with Sensex; CG Power plunges over 6%

NEW DELHI: In line with benchmark Sensex, the BSE Smallcap index was also under pressure during the first half of Tuesday's session.

Around 11:10 am, the smallcap index was 0.55 per cent down at 16,738, while the Sensex was 0.51 per cent down at 35,366. The Nifty50 index was 0.56 per cent down at 10,739.

CG Power and Industrial Solutions (down 6.10 per cent), KSK Energy Ventures (down 5 per cent), Manpasand Beverages (down 4.99 per cent), Ricoh India (down 4.99 per cent) and Fiberweb (India) (down 4.99 per cent) were the top losers in the smallcap index.


On the other hand, Borosil Glass Works (up 16.18 per cent), Everest Kanto Cylinder (up 8.73 per cent), Liberty Shoes (up 8.28 per cent), Gujarat Borosil (up 7.05 per cent) and Alankit (up 6.06 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.

Equity markets were in the negative territory, tracking weakness in global stocks as the trade conflict between the US and China intensified.

In the Sensex index, only 9 stocks were advancing, while 22 were declining in trade.

Vedanta, Infosys and Adani Ports were among the top losers in the Sensex kitty of stocks.
