Share market update: Smallcap index in the red; JVL Agro, Gati among top losers

Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and Tata Steel were the top drags on the Sensex index.
NEW DELHI: Underperforming benchmark Sensex, the BSE Smallcap index was trading 0.21 per cent down at 16,358 around 12:30 pm on Tuesday.

The BSE Sensex was 0.35 per cent up at 35,594, while the NSE Nifty50 was 0.35 per cnt up at 10,800 around that time.

Shares of JVL Agro Industries (down 9.68 per cent), Gati (down 5.40 per cent), Patel Engineering (down 5.15 per cent), Gitanjali Gems (down 5 per cent) and Dilip Buildcon (down 5 per cent) were the top losers in the smallcap index.


However, Avanti Feeds (up 16.31 per cent), Steel Exchange India (up 9.84 per cent), Liberty Shoes (up 5.56 per cent), Opto Circuits India (up 5.50 per cent) and Seamec (up 5.41 per cent) were among the top gainers in the index.

Gains in HDFC, ITC, TCS, HDFC Bank and IndusInd Bank gave a fillip to benchmark Sensex.

In the Sensex index, 23 stocks were advancing and 8 stocks were declining.
