Share market update: S&P BSE Telecom index dips 2%; GTL, Bharti Airtel shares slip

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 1.9 per cent down at 966.98 around 12:05 pm on Thursday with most of its components trading in the red.

Shares of GTL (down 6.25 per cent), GTL Infrastructure (down 5.00 per cent), Reliance Communications (down 4.56 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (down 3.44 per cent), were the top losers in the index.

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (down 2.41 per cent), ITI (down 2.27 per cent), Aksh Optifibre (down 2.27 per cent) and OnMobile Global (down 1.68 per cent) too were among the worst performers.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 102.65 points at 10,122.1 while BSE Sensex was down 351.15 points at 33,682.81 at that time.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 were trading in the green, while 40 were in the red.

Shares of JP Associates, YES Bank, Reliance Communications, L&T Fin Holding, Adani Power, Dewan Housing, Infibeam Avenues, Vakrangee, South Indian Bank, BHEL, Suzlon Energy, PC Jeweller, PNB, Tata Motors, SBI and Wipro were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
