Share market update: Power shares in the green; Torrent Power rises 2%

NEW DELHI: Power shares were trading with gains with the S&P BSE Power index up 0.91 per cent at 1984.08 around 12:23 pm on Monday.

Shares of Torrent Power (up 2.30 per cent), Thermax (up 1.78 per cent), NTPC (up 1.58 per cent) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (up 1.54 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.

NHPC (up 1.37 per cent), Reliance Infrastructure (up 1.09 per cent), GMR Infrastructure (up 0.95 per cent) and Suzlon Energy (up 0.92 per cent) too were trading higher.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 73.50 points at 10,800.85 while the BSE Sensex was up 251.55 points at 35,946.65.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 were trading in the green, while 10 were in the red.

Shares of Reliance Communications, Berger Paints, YES Bank, JP Associates, IDFC Bank, Ashok Leyland, Adani Power, HDIL, Axis Bank, Tata Motors, PNB, Suzlon Energy, Jet Airways, Thomas Cook, Spicejet, BHEL and Reliance Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
