Share market update: Nifty Metal index up; Hindalco Ind jumps 6%

NEW DELHI: Nifty Metal index was trading higher on Wednesday's afternoon session.

Shares of Hindalco Industries (up 6.38 per cent), Steel Authority of India (up 5.92 per cent), Hindustan Zinc (up 5.6 per cent), National Aluminium Company (up 4.4 per cent) and Tata Steel (up 4.22 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While MOIL (down 0.47 per cent) and Coal India (down 0.04 per cent) were the top losers in the index.


The Nifty Metal index was trading 2.86 per cent up at 2239.7 around 12:09PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 12.60 points at 11107.85, while the BSE Sensex was up 18.5 points at 37706.41.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 were trading in the green, while 17 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, SAIL, SBI and Tata Motors were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
