Share market update: Nifty Metal index falls nearly 3%; Jindal Steel shares in the red

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading with losses with the Nifty Metal index down 2.9 per cent at 3121.45 on Monday.

Shares of Jindal Steel & Power (down 7.78 per cent), Welspun Corp (down 5.04 per cent), Vedanta (down 4.23 per cent) and Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 4.13 per cent) were the worst performers in the index.

Tata Steel (down 3.21 per cent), Coal India (down 2.98 per cent) and JSW Steel (down 2.52 per cent) too were trading in the red.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 7.30 points at 10,519.45 while BSE Sensex was up 3.75 points at 34,984.77 around 12:32 pm.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 were trading in the green, while 33 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Idea Cellular, Vedanta, Indian Oil Corp, Ashok Leyland, Infosys, Bank of Baroda, SBI, ICICI Bank, SAIL, Tata Motors, HPCL, Tata Steel, ONGC and Axis Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
