Share market update: Nifty Financial Services index up; ICICI Prudential gains 5%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Financial Services index was up with most of its components trading higher in Monday's afternoon session.

Shares of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company (up 4.95 per cent), HDFC Life Insurance Company (up 2.77 per cent), Edelweiss Financial Services (up 2.68 per cent) and Shriram Transport Finance Company (up 2.42 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.

Housing Development Finance Corporation (up 2.34 per cent), Power Finance Corporation (up 2.21 per cent), Bajaj Holdings & Investment (up 1.93 per cent) and Cholamandalam Investment & Finance Company (up 1.61 per cent) too were trading higher.


The Nifty Financial Services index was trading 1.39 per cent up at 13,489.05 around 02:04 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 98.55 points at 11,942.65 while the BSE Sensex was up 314.80 points at 39,749.52.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 were trading in the green, while 15 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Ashok Leyland, PNB, NCC, SBI, Bank of Baroda, Rail Vikas Nigam, BHEL and PC Jeweller were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
