Share market update: Nifty Financial Services index rises; STFC up 2%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Financial Services index was up with its components trading higher in Wednesday's afternoon session.

Shares of ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company (up 2.72 per cent) , Shriram Transport Finance Company (up 2.22 per cent) , HDFC Life Insurance Company (up 1.83 per cent) and Cholamandalam Investment & Finance Company (up 1.62 per cent) were the top performers in the index.

Edelweiss Financial Services (up 1.12 per cent) , Bajaj Finserv (up 1.10 per cent) , Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services (up 1.05 per cent) and Bajaj Finance (up 1.03 per cent) too were trading with gains.


The Nifty Financial Services index was trading 0.22 per cent up at 12,549.35 around 12:41 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 3.35 points at 10,951.60 while the BSE Sensex was up 51.92 points at 37,028.77.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 were trading in the green, while 27 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, PNB, Dish TV India, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, ZEEL, Bank of Baroda and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
